M-Tag mandatory for Islamabad-Lahore Motorway

Today is the last day to get M-Tag for Islamabad-Lahore Motorway.

According to National Highway Authority, National Highways and Motorways Police made M-Tag mandatory in the light of Lahore High Court’s verdict on case regarding smog.

All citizens can obtain M-Tag from Motorway Customer Care Centers by providing their CNIC and mobile number.

National Voters Day observed

National Voters Day was observed on Tuesday with an objective to encourage greater participation in the electoral process.

To mark the day, special programmes, rallies, seminars and workshops were held at national, regional, and provincial levels.

Election Commission of Pakistan declared the 7th of December, as National Voters Day to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of voting in the electoral process.

Addressing a ceremony in Karachi to mark the Day, Sindh Election Commissioner Saeed Gul and Member of ECP Sindh Nisar Durani urged people to participate in ongoing campaign of voter registration and updating voter list.

Meanwhile, addressing a function in connection with the Day in Peshawar, Election Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sharif Ullah Khan has urged all segments of the society to play their due role to enhance the voters turn out ratio in the election.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with Day in Quetta, Election Commissioner Balochistan Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Murad said all possible steps are being taken to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

Ashrafi stresses on evolving collective approach to deal with social evils

Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Religious Harmony, Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has stressed on evolving collective approach to deal with all types of social evils, including extremism.

Addressing a ceremony in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, he said provision of equal rights to all minorities is government’s key responsibility.

While strongly condemning the Sialkot incident, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi said nobody will be allowed to use the blasphemy law for his personal interests.

Sarwar urges UN to play its role in ending atrocities against Kashmiris & Palestinians

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has urged the United Nations to play its role in ending atrocities against Kashmiris and Palestinians.

He was talking to former UN President Volkan Bozkir in Turkey on Tuesday.

The issues facing the people of Afghanistan and peace were also discussed during the meeting.

The Governor briefed Volkan Bozkir about the steps being taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan to restore peace in Afghanistan and the situation regarding the atrocities committed by the Indian security forces against the Kashmiri people.

He lamented that in Kashmir, 855 days had passed since imposition of worst lockdown by the Indian government and the Kashmiris are deprived of basic human rights.

The former UN president reaffirmed his commitment to protect human rights in Kashmir and play a role for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

US billionaire returns $70 mn worth of stolen antiquities

New York (AFP) – A prominent US art collector and billionaire philanthropist has returned 180 works of art and antiquities stolen from around the world — some from ancient Greece — that are estimated to be worth $70 million, Justice Department officials in New York said Monday.
