Nation celebrates 146th birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam

Nation celebrated 146th birth anniversary of founder of the nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on Sunday with a renewed pledge to uphold his guiding principles of faith, unity and discipline.

The day dawned with special prayers for the security, progress and prosperity of the country.

An investiture and graceful change of guards ceremony was held at mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam in Karachi this morning.

Pakistan Air Force cadets handed over the guards’ duty to the cadets of Pakistan Military Academy.

Major General Umer Aziz was chief guest on the occasion.

Fateha Khwani and Quran Khwani was also held at the Mazar for Quaid and other leaders of Pakistan Movement.

Special events were also arranged to highlight the ideals and vision of the father of the nation, particularly with regard to rule of law, supremacy of the constitution, and upholding of democracy.

Radio Pakistan, PTV and private TV channels aired special programs in connection with the day to pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam.

Five Pak Army personnel martyred in Balochistan’s clearance operation

One officer and four jawans of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom during a clearance operation against terrorists in Kahan area of Balochistan on Sunday.

According to ISPR, an Improvised Explosive Device blasted during the operation, which led to martyrdom of Captain Fahad, Lance Naik Imtiaz, Sepoy Asghar, Sepoy Mehran and Sepoy Shamoon who laid their lives in defence of motherland against an externally perpetrated threat of terrorism.

Pakistan Army has reaffirmed its resolve to challenge the terrorists’ nefarious designs, even at the cost of blood and lives, saying that such cowardly acts by inimical elements cannot sabotage the hard earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan.

The sanitization operation continues in the area to apprehend perpetrators.

Winter storm kills at least 23 people in US & Canada

At least 23 people were killed and about one and half million were left without power as a massive winter storm hit the United States and Canada.

Over 250 million people are suffering due to heavy snow, howling winds and frigid temperatures reaching to -48 Celsius.

The storm known as “bomb cyclone” is the fiercest in decades forcing cancellation of thousand flights and closing roads and railways on the eve of Christmas.

President, PM express grief, sorrow over martyrdom of five soldiers in Balochistan

President Dr. Arif Alvi has paid homage to the soldiers of Pakistan Army, who were martyred during the clearance operation of security forces in Kahan, Balochistan.

The president, in a statement, prayed for the martyrs and expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the martyrs.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep grief and sorrow over heart-wrenching news about martyrdom of five soldiers, including an Army Captain, in Balochistan.

He said nations pays its tributes and respects to its heroes, who laid down their lives for the motherland.

The Prime Minister expressed resolve that the perpetrators of terrorism will be brought to justice, saying let there be no mistake about it.

PM directs to grant Martyrs Package to Syed Adeel Hussain Shaheed of ICT Police

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Interior Ministry to take necessary steps to give Martyrs Package to shaheed Head Constable of Islamabad Police Syed Adeel Hussain who sacrificed his life in a suicide attack in Sector I-10 of Islamabad last Friday.

The Prime Minister also directed to give a financial package of ten million rupees to the family of taxi driver Syed Sajjad Haider Shah who was also martyred in the attack.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad will hand over the cheque to Syed Sajjad’s family members.

In a statement, he said a campaign in this regard to create awareness is in full swing.

Magistrates paying visits to shops and markets in Gilgit are motivating businessmen to avoid use of polythene shoppers to avoid pollution.

He said action will be taken against those who violate the order administration.

He pointed out that under a pilot project, use of polythene is ban in Gilgit and it will be extended to other districts phase wise.

PAF releases song to pay homage to Quaid-e-Azam

Pakistan Air Force has released a national song to pay homage to the founder of Pakistan, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The song highlights the fact that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah shone a ray of hope among the oppressed Muslims of the subcontinent and united them in the form of a nation and got a separate and independent homeland for them.

It is the result of the tireless efforts of Quaid-e-Azam that we are breathing in a free country today. In the song, the pledge is renewed that every Shaheen of Pakistan Air Force is always ready to protect the motherland and will not avoid any sacrifice if required.
