Pak-China Investment, Trade Symposium held in Qingdao

China-Pakistan Investment and Trade Symposium held in China’s Qingdao city of Shandong province, aiming to attract Chinese enterprises to invest in Pakistan has concluded.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi said economic relationship between Pakistan and China are gaining momentum with latest developments such as conclusion of several agriculture market access protocols.

He said it has been decided to take steps to enhance cooperation through institutional development and B2B exchanges to promote trade and investment.

Journalists from UAE, KSA briefed on Pak Foreign Policy

A delegation of journalists from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, met with Additional Foreign Secretary (Middle East) Rizwan Saeed Sheikh in Islamabad.

He briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s robust bilateral relations with both countries.

He also highlighted key priority areas of Pakistan’s policy, particularly with respect to Kashmir and Palestine issues, trade and investment, tourism and fostering media cooperation.

Govt envisions enhancing agri-based economic growth: Tanveer

Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain has said government envisions enhancing agriculture based economic growth for the benefit of the poor.

Chairing the federal Committee on Agriculture, in Islamabad, he said Pakistan has immense production potential in agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors. He stressed the efficient utilization of production resources by adopting modern technologies, establishing realistic marketing systems, and minimizing trade barriers for sustainable economic growth.

Rana Tanveer Hussain said the government is making efforts to assist farmers by providing inputs at affordable prices and ensuring better prices for their produce to bridge the gap between production costs and output prices in favor of farmers.

Reviewing performance of the Rabi crops, the Committee observed that Wheat production for the current year is estimated at 29.69 million tons from an area of 9.6 million hectares. The increase in production is 5.4% over the last year.

Onion production is
estimated at 1.92 million tons, tomato production at 627.47 thousand tons and potato production at 8.1 million tons.

PM to visit residence of Shaheed Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi today

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will visit the residence of Shaheed Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi in Abbottabad today to offer fateha.

He was martyred in a terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan.

The Prime Minister will also announce a special package for the custom officials who were martyred in the terrorist attacks by smugglers.

Info Minister reiterates govt’s support for freedom of media

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has reiterated the government’s support for freedom of media in the country.

Talking to a delegation of Karachi Press Club in Karachi, he said media is playing the role of fourth pillar of democracy in the country.

The Information Minister said the government soon after assuming office took steps to clear outstanding dues of the media houses, in order to provide much-needed relief to journalists and media workers.

During the meeting, various matters pertaining to welfare of journalists and media workers were discussed.

Pak, EU agree to strengthen mutual ties in diverse fields

Pakistan and the European Union have agreed to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, migration, and climate action.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and the European Union Ambassador Dr Riina Kionka in Islamabad.

They discussed different aspects of Pakistan-EU relations and expressed satisfaction over the progress being made through several institutional mechanisms.

Ishaq Dar stressed the need for early resumption of direct PIA flights to European Union countries.

Meanwhile, Canadian High Commissioner Leslie Scanlon also paid a courtesy call on the Foreign Minister and discussed bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to deepen relations with Canada in political, economic and cultural domains. He encouraged Canadian companies to invest in Pakistan.

Assistant Secretary General of the UN Development Programme, Kanni Wignaraja, also met with the foreign minister.

They discus
sed UNDP’s work related to 2022 floods in Pakistan, Sustainable Development Goals and climate change.

The foreign minister stressed the need for international solidarity in bridging the financing gap for climate initiatives and supporting vulnerable countries.

SIFC achieves another major milestone in energy sector

Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has achieved another major milestone in the energy sector.

According to details, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has completed testing and drilling of third well in Ghazi area.

The well will be put into production as planned after completion of regulatory procedures, which will help Pakistan in the energy sector.

Exploration and mining initiatives in the country are being promoted through the platform of the SIFC.

The recent efforts of Mari Petroleum Company Limited will help the country to further improve its energy sector. Such projects will not only increase the revenue but also restore the confidence of investors.
