Fawad Chaudhary Takes Notice of Spat Between Shoaib Akhtar and Dr. Noman Niaz

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has taken notice of the humiliating treatment meted out to legendary Pakistani pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, by Dr. Noman Niaz during a live broadcast on state television.

In this regard, the Information Minister has also formed a high-level committee to investigate the incident that took place on a state broadcast following Pakistan’s victory against New Zealand last night.

According to details, Managing Director (MD) Pakistan Television (PTV) Aamer Manzoor will head the committee. Chief Human Resource Officer, Director News, Director Sports, and Director Programs will also be a part of the committee.

The Information Minister has summoned the inaugural meeting of the committee later today. The committee will analyze both on-air and off-air footage of the show and will determine why the heated argument between Shoaib and Dr. Noman occurred in the first place.

It will also summon Shoaib and Dr. Noman separately to hear their sides of the story. After ascertaining the reason and culprit behind the verbal spat, the committee will submit its findings to the Information Minister at the earliest.

In case the committee identifies Dr. Noman as the wrongdoer, the Ministry for Information and Broadcasting will initiate disciplinary action against him.

PTV News’ official Twitter handle has also confirmed the development. In a Tweet, the PTV News penned that the PTV administration has taken notice of the incident that took place between Shoaib and the host of PTV Sports’ program Game On Hai, Dr. Noman.

What Actually Happened?

Shoaib Akhtar and Dr. Noman Niaz got into an on-air verbal spat during the post-match discussion where panelists, including legends like Sir. Vivian Richards and David Gower were discussing Pakistan’s 5-wicket win over New Zealand in the 2021 T20 World Cup last night.

It all started when Shoaib took a few jibes at Dr. Noman while sharing his thoughts about the match. Dr. Noman did not condone Shoaib’s digs at him, calling him rude and asking to leave the show. He immediately took a break after this.

To save everyone from embarrassment, Shoaib clarified that he was only messing around the host with a mutual understanding and suggested Dr. Noman politely apologize for calling him rude and asking him to leave.

However, Dr. Noman refused to apologize to Shoaib, forcing the latter to quit PTV Sports on-air.

Run Machines Babar and Rizwan Reach Another Milestone Together

Pakistan’s opening T20I batters, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, have been in a terrific run of form over the past year and have piled on the runs for the Men in Green at the top of the order. Both the batters have developed a great understanding and look in complete control when batting with each other.

The duo has become the first Pakistani pair to score more than 1,000 runs in T20I cricket. They achieved the feat during their 28-run opening partnership in Pakistan’s victory over New Zealand in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Overall, Babar and Rizwan are the 11th pair in the world to have crossed 1,000 runs as partners at the crease. Indian opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have scored the most runs as partners, piling on 1,743 runs in 52 innings they have batted together.

Babar and Rizwan have reached the milestone in only 17 innings. Their average while batting together is a staggering 63.06 and the pair has put on a partnership of 100 runs on four occasions. Out of four 100 run partnerships, they have gone on to score in excess of 150 runs in three of those innings and their highest partnership is 197 runs.

Foreign Ministry Condemns Indian Treatment of Kashmiris for Celebrating Pakistan’s Win

Pakistan condemns in the strongest terms the highly reprehensible attacks against Kashmiri students in India after Pakistan’s win in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. This hateful behavior is reflective of the BJP-RSS extremist “Hindutva” mindset against minorities, particularly Muslims.

Equally condemnable and of deep concern are the reports that Indian authorities are charging Kashmiri students and youth under the draconian and arbitrary Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Clearly, such hate-mongering and Islamophobia reflect growing intolerance in India and illustrate that even the gentleman’s game of cricket is not free from its pernicious effects.

The Indian government must take steps to thoroughly investigate the intimidation of and violence against the Kashmiri youth and the Muslim minority in the backdrop of the T20 cricket match.

Shoaib Akhtar Resigns After Being Asked to Leave Live Show by Nauman Niaz [Video]

Former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, resigned live on TV from his role as an analyst on PTV Sports program, Game on Hai, after a verbal spat with the host of the show, Dr. Nauman Niaz.

During the post-match discussion, the panelists including, former West Indian legend, Sir Vivian Richards, English legend, David Gower and former Pakistani players, Azhar Mahmood, Aaqib Javed, Sana Mir, and Rashid Latif along with Shoaib and Dr. Nauman were discussing Pakistan’s magnificent victory over New Zealand in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

The incident occurred when Shoaib was talking about the match and during the process took a few jibes at Dr. Nauman.

Dr. Nauman did not take the condescending tone lightly and called Shoaib Akhtar rude and asked him to leave the show. “You’re being a little rude and I don’t want to say this, but if you’re being over smart, you can go. I am saying this on air,” Dr. Nauman remarked.

The show later resumed but despite Shoaib’s best efforts to calm the situation down and repair the damage, Dr. Nauman failed to apologize for his actions. Shoaib eventually walked out of the show and resigned from his role as he believed that Dr. Nauman should offer him a public apology.

Later, Shoaib uploaded a video on Twitter where he explained what transpired during the commercial break. He said that he talked to Nauman about resolving the issue and asked Nauman to apologize on air but he refused to do so.
