Imran Khan lacks courage to face masses: Marriyum

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan would never face masses as he knew it was his government tenure which rendered 6 million people jobless and pushed 20 million below the poverty line.

In a tweet, she said that Imran Khan addressed from the car while using canister for his security, but his workers were walking in hot weather.

Pak envoy thanks China for helping Pakistani nationals’ evacuation from Sudan

Pakistan has expressed appreciation to China for helping more than 200 Pakistani nationals’ evacuation from Sudan.

During a meeting with Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of Foreign Ministry of China Liu Jinsong, Pakistan Ambassador Moin ul Haque Haque said China’s assistance demonstrated once again how strong the Pakistan-China friendship is.

Speaking on the occasion, Liu said China’s assistance to evacuate Pakistanis from war-torn country demonstrated the iron-clad friendship between the two countries.

Pakistan, Russian Federation celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties

Pakistan and the Russian Federation are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, on Monday.

To mark this milestone occasion, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov exchanged letters of felicitations.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan and Russia enjoy close, multidimensional relations based on mutual goodwill and trust.

Bilateral ties are marked by cooperation in diverse areas, including economic, energy, and security. The two countries also consult at various multilateral fora on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

It is pertinent to mention that diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Russia were established on this day in 1948.

93 more stranded Pakistanis in Sudan reach Islamabad

The process of safely evacuating Pakistanis from war ridden Sudan is continuing.

A PIA flight carrying ninety three Pakistanis reached Islamabad on Monday.

Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajjid Hussain Turi and Adviser to the Prime Minister, Amir Muqam, received them at the airport.

Talking to the media on the occasion, Sajjid Hussain Turi said that out of twelve hundred Pakistanis living in Sudan, about five hundred have returned to Pakistan.

In his remarks, Engineer Amir Muqam said that the government will continue its efforts till return of all Pakistanis from Sudan. He said Saudi Arabia has extended full help in the evacuation process. He said the government is bearing all the expenses of the evacuation of Pakistanis from Sudan to their homes in Pakistan.

Talking to our correspondent Bilal Mehsud, the evacuated people commended the government’s timely decisions and support extended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their safe return to homeland.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office in a statement stated that six hundred and thirty six stranded Pakistanis have returned home via Jeddah on five special flights till date.

The foreign office said that all of the nearly one thousand Pakistanis will be evacuated from Sudan in the next twenty four to forty eight hours.

Int’l Labour Day observed to highlight contribution of labour class in development

International Labour Day was observed across the country on Monday as elsewhere in the world, to acknowledge and commend the invaluable contributions of the labour class.

The fundamental objective of observing the International Labour Day was to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the working class, create awareness about their rights, and protect them from exploitation.

In this connection, rallies were taken out by labourers’ and other organizations in various cities to highlight significance of the day.

PML-N striving to improve working conditions, compensation of working classes: Bilal

Coordinator to PM on Economy and Energy Bilal Azhar Kayani says Labour Day is an opportunity to collectively take a moment to celebrate the achievements and contributions of labourers and the working classes.

In a tweet on Monday, he said it is also a day to acknowledge the labour movement and to emphasize the importance of labour rights, especially in difficult economic conditions globally today.

Bilal Azhar Kayani said PMLN, under the guidance of Nawaz Sharif, has always strived to protect labour rights and improve the working conditions and compensation of the working classes, and will continue to do so in the future.

He said there is a lot that remains to be done on this front. He said we can only progress as a nation if we can ensure that the working classes are rewarded fairly for their hard work and treated respectfully.

‘About 850,000 workers sent abroad over last one year for better employment opportunities’

Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Sajid Hussain Turi has said that about eight hundred and fifty thousand workers have been sent abroad over the last one year for better employment opportunities.

Addressing an event at National Press Club in Islamabad on Monday in connection with the World Labor Day, he said we are also finalizing agreements with sixteen to eighteen countries for export of our manpower. He said we are doing future planning to ensure legal export of manpower.

Sajid Hussain Turi said the government has also taken various steps for the welfare of the workers. He said we are planning to establish a University in the federal capital where free of cost education will be provided to the children of workers. He said we have also enhanced the death compensation.

Speaking on the occasion, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Afzal Butt stressed for united efforts to address the problems of all the workers associated with different professions including the media industry.

He said we have achieved some successes vis-a-vis the protection of rights of workers. He was appreciative of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb for appointing the Chairman of Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees (ITNE), which, he said, is addressing problems of media workers.
