ECP urges public to obtain vote details by sending CNIC No to 8300

Director General IT, Election Commission of Pakistan, Muhammad Khizar Aziz, has appealed to voters to check their vote details through our designated messaging service to ensure a smooth polling process.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel, he urged the public to obtain their vote details by sending their CNIC number to 8300 as soon as possible to avoid any potential burden on the system on Election Day.

The DG IT stated that two rupees will be charged for each message sent to 8300; therefore, having a general balance in the mobile account is a prerequisite for this service.

In response to a question, he explained that, as per our data security policy, we deliberately opted for mobile network services instead of social media and WhatsApp.

Regarding another supplementary question, he clarified that parties contacting voters through call services are utilizing their own data collection, and no one is allowed to access ECP’s data.

Muhammad Khizar Aziz highlighte
d that, to ensure result transparency, we have introduced an offline private data mode to address hacking challenges. For this purpose, we provided a specific app to our 92,000 presiding officers, responsible for uploading results through this offline system. The uploaded data will be counterchecked by the returning officers.

The DG IT ECP noted that out of 92,000 polling stations, 18,000 have been declared sensitive, with CCTV cameras in place. He mentioned that CCTV records can be presented in court if any misconduct occurs on Election Day.

Muhammad Khizar Aziz emphasized that our Election Monitoring and Control Centre is a fully digital hall connected to the entire world through different networks. He stated that this state-of-the-art EMCC is responsible for quickly resolving complaints registered in real-time through our digital system.

He expressed hope that, with strict implementation of our digital policy and support from national broadcasters, we will effectively combat fake news regarding election
results.
