Govt reviews media, public concerns about late processing of results

Ministry of Interior has said that the media and public concerns about late processing of the results to respective ROs have been reviewed.

This has been attributed to lack of communication which was result of precautions taken to ensure foolproof security situation.

The protocols, in ensuring safe custody of both personnel and ballots, are elaborate which consumed significant time.

The situation is now satisfactory and results are expected to be flowing in continuously.

Terrorist incidents just a day before polls compelled taking difficult measures: Gohar

The Interior Ministry has clarified that safety and security of citizens was to be prioritized over the delay in poll results therefore cellular services had to be suspended.

In a statement today, Interior Minister Dr. Gohar Ejaz Khan said terrorist incidents just a day before elections had compelled taking difficult measures like suspension of service to disallow terrorists the means to communicate, coordinate and conduct terrorist operations.

He expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of elections under exceptional security circumstances as hundreds of thousands security personnel had to be deployed in harsh weather within a limited time.

Dr Gohar Ejaz Khan said the country is facing a spike in terrorism and there were credible reports of attacks on law enforcement agencies and civilians by terrorist entities like TTP, Daesh and foreign sponsored militant organizations in Balochistan to shake the confidence of the people and dissuade them from exercising their democratic right.

id to preclude the possibility of IEDs en route to and from the polling stations in sensitive areas especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, proper Bomb Disposal clearances had to be done which also consumed substantial time and delayed results.

The Minister requested the citizens and political leaders to allow election staff to carry out their duties unhindered and do not cause further delay by blocking roads leading from polling stations to Returning Officers’ offices.

Dr Gohar Ejaz Khan noted with satisfaction that all major political entities are generally satisfied with the results indicating that elections were free and fair.

The Minister said all institutions involved in this historic exercise, especially the Election Commission of Pakistan which had little control of the security situation, deserve acknowledgement and gratitude rather than criticism and denigration.

Federal Cabinet approves open bidding for hiring Category-A firm for audit of NADRA

The Federal Cabinet has approved open bidding for hiring services of a Category-A firm for the audit of NADRA.

The approval was accorded in a meeting of federal cabinet held in Islamabad today, with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Ha Kakar in the chair.

The decision has been made to make NADRA’s audit more efficient, transparent and at par with international standards by providing equal opportunity to all audit firms registered with the State Bank of Pakistan in Category A.

The cabinet also approved renaming the ‘Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan’ project as ‘National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT).

Pakistan calls for UN’s intervention to protect Islamic sites in India

At the United Nations Pakistan has called for the organization’s intervention to protect Islamic sites in India.

In a letter addressed to the top official for UN Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Angel Moratinos, Pakistan’s representative to United Nations, Munir Akram said demolition of centures old mosque in New Delhi marks another highly disturbing chapter in an alarming campaign targeting Islamic sites and heritage in India. He said this incident symbolizes a concerning rise in Hindu-majoritarianism.

He said the State’s support for such incidents poses imminent threats to the well-being of Indian Muslims across social, economic, and political spheres.

Regional countries want peace, stability in Afghanistan: PM

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has said that all countries of the region want peace, security and stability in Afghanistan.

In an exclusive interview with TOLO news, he said the recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan needs regional consensus.

He said that until the countries of the region and the world recognize the current government of Afghanistan, Pakistan would not take a step forward in that regard.

The Prime Minister said the Durand Line is an internationally recognized border between Afghanistan and Pakistan and it is approved by the UN and 206 countries.

He said the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has shelter in some provinces of Afghanistan and that issue had caused insecurity in Pakistan.

Anwar-ul-Haq Kaka said that no nation would be permitted to utilize Pakistan’s airspace against Afghanistan.

ECP spokesperson expresses satisfaction over peaceful conduct of polling

Spokesperson Election Commission of Pakistan Nighat Siddique has expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the polling with an encouraging voter turnout.

Speaking in the Special Election Transmission of Radio Pakistan, she said a large number of people reached the polling stations to cast their votes, which is a good omen for a flourishing democracy in the country. She said the transparency was ensured during the entire polling process as well.

She said result compilation of the elections is a technical process which may take time. She said as the momentum has been built up, the results of the general elections are pouring in and soon the process would be completed.

Caretaker Interior Minister felicitates nation over peaceful conduct of elections

Caretaker Interior Minister Dr. Gohar Ejaz has felicitated the entire nation over peaceful conduct of the elections despite several security challenges.

Addressing a news conference along with Caretaker Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi in Islamabad today, he said the government made quick decisions to cope with terrorism threat during the elections.

Dr Gohar Ejaz said protecting precious lives of the people was our foremost priority during polling process therefore we temporarily suspended the mobile phone service.

He said our each and every step and decision was aimed at ensuring the national security and we remained successful in this regard. He said we need to be united at the moment in the best interest of the country.

Dr Gohar Ejaz said the government and entire nation are also proud of its armed forces, police and law enforcement agencies for ensuring safe and secure environment during the elections.

He expressed the hope that the new government would try its level best for the development
and prosperity.

Speaking on the occasion, Murtaza Solangi said the government successfully served the purpose of conducting free and fair elections in the country.
