Karachi, The UBL Liquidity Plus Fund, listed in 2009, reported its financials for the year ending June 2024. The fund maintained a consistent offer and redemption price of Rs 101.44. It declared distributions of 6.08% in 2022 and 5.80% in 2023.

Re-polling at some polling stations of NA-88, PS-18, PK-90 underway

Re-polling at some polling stations in NA-88 Khushab, PS-18 Ghotki-I, and PK-90, Kohat-I is underway and it will continue till five in the evening without break.

Election Commission of Pakistan had ordered re-polling due to pilferage, snatching and burning of polling material in these constituencies.

Interior Minister reviews existing system of water supply in twin cities

A meeting chaired by Interior Minister Gohar Ejaz in Islamabad today reviewed the existing system of water supply, sanitation and waste disposal of the federal capital and Rawalpindi.

It was informed that there are 8,000 sanitation workers who dispose of 2,300 tons of waste daily with an annual budget of 7 billion rupees, but still the sanitation of both cities cannot be described as standard. Currently, the twin cities are facing forty seven percent water scarcity.

In his remarks on the occasion, the Interior Minister noted that water supply and sanitation are basic needs, expressing the strong desire to make Islamabad a model for other cities.

He said decisions will have to be taken today to meet tomorrow’s needs.

Gohar Ejaz said an integrated, comprehensive and effective system will have to be devised so that quality facilities can be provided to the people.

He said the implementation of all necessary actions should be ensured as soon as possible.

angi, who also attended the meeting, said improvement of ground water level is very important in water supply and therefore attention has to be given to it. Additionally, he said the natural drains of Islamabad will have to be cleaned.

Pakistan calls for implementation of Indus Water Treaty

Pakistan has called for strict implementation of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty to address the looming water crisis.

Addressing the UN Security Council, Pakistan Permanent Representative in the United Nations Ambassador Munir Akram said Pakistan aims to reinvigorate the Indus River basin which provides food security to over 225 million people.

He said that to this end, Pakistan has launched the multi-dimensional Living Indus projects.
