New police stations being built in various cities of Punjab: CM Naqvi

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi says training at par with international standards is being provided at Police Training Center Chung.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore today, he said that new police stations are being built in various cities of the province.

He said caretaker government has taken all-out measures for improvement at the Police Training Center.

Earlier, the caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the Sports Gymnasium at the Police Training Center Chung.

Bilawal urges all stakeholders to develop consensus to save democracy

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged all the stakeholders to develop consensus to save democracy and the parliamentary system.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan today, he said the people of Pakistan have given a split mandate to all political parties, therefore, they should sit together for betterment of the country.

Bilawal Bhutto said political parties should also demonstrate some flexibility to avoid any possible stalemate.

He said the PPP’s formula of compromise is aimed at saving and continuing the democratic process in the country.

Traffic restored at Malam Jabba and Lowari Tunnel

Traffic has been restored at Malam Jabba and Lowari Tunnel by removing snow from several kilometers of the nearby roads.

In this regard, rescue teams of Pakistan Army and district administration remained active throughout the night.

Due to heavy snowfall yesterday, many passengers and tourists were also shifted to safe places.

Rescue teams of Pak Army will continue to work till the restoration of complete traffic in the surroundings of Lowari tunnel and Malam Jabba.

All restaurants and hotels were seen packed with tourists and the demand of woollies also goes up, as mercury falls below the freezing point.

The eye-catching landscape of Malam Jabba was beyond everything as tourists could go to the mountain peaks, watch lush green pastures and travel inside the forests through a controlled ride on chairlift that was full of fun and enjoyment.

The district administration in these Swat Valley has urged the visitors to play a role in keeping the environment clean after staying in any
hill station of the valley.

Peshawar-Chitral road closed to traffic after heavy snow in Dir Upper

The Peshawar-Chitral road has been closed to all kinds of vehicular traffic due to heavy snow on the Upper Dir side of the highway.

District Administration of Chitral today, advised people especially tourists to avoid visiting the area due to the closure of the roads.

National Highway Authority is busy in removing snow to open the road for traffic at the earliest.

OGDCL agrees to pay over Rs12.6b royalty to Balochistan govt

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has agreed to pay over twelve billion rupees to Balochistan government as royalty of Uch gas field.

In this connection, Caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki said royalty is the right of Balochistan and will be spent on the welfare of the people.

Envoy Masood calls for strengthening Pak-US cooperation in diverse sectors

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further strengthen and promote bilateral relations with the United States, including security cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

Speaking at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC, he emphasized the significant strides made in fostering congruence between Pakistan and the United States over the past two years.

He emphasized the importance of bilateral trade, with the US being Pakistan’s largest single-country export destination, and highlighted successful engagements like the U.S.-Pakistan Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) ministerial meeting.

Highlighting Pakistan’s economic potential, Ambassador Masood Khan pointed out that Pakistan ranks as the 24th largest economy by purchasing power parity (PPP) and is the fifth most populous country, with a youthful demographic where 64 percent are below the age of 30. He emphasized the nation’s tech-savvy pop
ulace and the rapid digitization of the economy.

Outlining Pakistan’s priorities, including wealth creation, human capital development, modernization of key sectors like agriculture and manufacturing, and preparation for climate change, he invited international partners to leverage Pakistan’s strategic economic position in West Asia, emphasizing ongoing structural economic reforms to capitalize on recent challenges as opportunities for growth and development.

Regarding investment opportunities in Pakistan, he highlighted Pakistan’s attractiveness for American investors, citing the presence of 80 American enterprises, including Fortune 500 companies, operating profitably in Pakistan across various sectors. He noted the burgeoning tech startup ecosystem, with significant investments in areas like fintech, healthtech, and Artificical Intelligence.

Highlighting the significance of newly constituted Special Investment Facilitation Council (SFIC), he said areas of direct interest to American investors would be e
nergy, agriculture and critical minerals. He said these four areas have been prioritized by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SFIC) for fast-track foreign investment. He said Pakistan is sitting on a treasure trove of minerals. He said Pakistan has the largest reserves of copper, gold, lithium, rare earth elements, magnesium and cobalt. The Ambassador invited the investors to help extract these minerals and process them for industrial use along the value chains.

Talking about terrorism, Masood Khan quoted recent UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Report, which has established that Al Qaeda has been training Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan in eight camps in Afghanistan to support their cross-border attacks in Pakistan. He termed ISIS-K and TTP attacks as a potent threat to Pakistan, the US and its allies, and underlined the need of coordinated strategy to eliminate it.

Addressing geopolitical considerations, the Ambassador stressed the need for stability and cooperation in South Asia, advoca
ting for a resolution of issues like Jammu and Kashmir through diplomatic means in accordance with international law.

Looking ahead, Masood Khan expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-U.S. relations, highlighting ongoing dialogues across various domains and promising results. .

PM to attend agreement signing ceremony b/w PMDC, American firm

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will participate, as the special guest, at the signing ceremony of the agreement about joint venture between Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) and an American firm, Miracle Saltworks Collective Inc in Islamabad about increase in the value of Himalayan Pink Salt and it export.

The Prime Minister will also address participants of the event to be organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy.
