Asad expresses satisfaction on progress of CPEC JWG

Planning Minister Asad Umar says the China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects pace of implementation will be further accelerated in the weeks and months to come.

Talking to Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong in Islamabad today, he expressed his satisfaction over the progress and work done by Joint working Groups (JWG).

He said the establishment and operationalization of the Special Economic Zones is currently among the top priorities and these SEZs would enable setting up joint ventures in manufacturing that would integrate the enterprises from both sides.

Matters relating to the upcoming 10th JCC, Joint Working Group (JWG) meetings and economic cooperation between the two countries came under discussion in the meeting.

The Ambassador said that the JCC would provide an opportunity to give further boost to bilateral cooperation under the CPEC umbrella. He said that the upcoming meeting would also open many new avenues of cooperation.

President stresses need to further improve communication system, IT for rapid development

President Dr. Arif Alvi has stressed the need to further improve the communication system and information technology for rapid development of the country.

He was addressing an agreement signing ceremony between Universal Service Fund and PTCL in Karachi on Monday, to lay 700-kilometre Optical Fiber in Naushahro Feroze, Benazirabad and Khairpur for high-speed broadband services.

The President said IT education should be imparted to the youth who are real strength of the country and can play role in the development.

He said digital economy is flourishing around the world and a rapid work on it in Pakistan will open up more avenues for the country in coming days.

Pakistan’s efforts for environment protection being recognized at int’l level: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said environment protection is one of the top priorities of the government and tree plantation campaign plays a vital role in this regard.

Chairing a virtual meeting on monsoon plantation today (Monday), he said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has established an example in making the Billion Tree Tsunami a success that needs to be followed.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan’s efforts for environment protection are being recognized at the international level.

He directed to finalize a tree plantation plan at divisional and district level in Punjab. He also stressed the need to monitor the plantation campaign to ensure transparency and to use modern means, while compiling results.

Imran Khan emphasized on ensuring participation of Tiger Force, students, members of civil society, government departments and private organizations in the tree plantation campaign.

The Prime Minister was briefed about tree plantation targets in Punjab and the strategy to achieve them.

The meeting was informed that Punjab will play a leading role in the Monsoon Tree Plantation campaign.

Punjab Forest Minister said that six-monthly targets of been set to make the province green.

Chairman Capital Development Authority also briefed the meeting regarding the tree plantation campaign in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
