Govt committed to ensure provision of healthcare facilities to people at their doorsteps: Yasmin

Punjab Minister for Health, Yasmin Rashid visited the Gujranwala Medical Collage and under construction Teaching Hospital, today (Saturday).

Secretary Specialized Health and Medical Education, Punjab, Muhammad Aamer Jan also accompanied her.

She chaired a meeting to review arrangements to make functional Teaching Hospital earliest and provision of necessary facilities in Medical College.

Addressing the meeting, she said that maximum facilities would be provided to people associated with the medical profession.

She said that the Punjab government was committed to ensure the provision of healthcare facilities to the people at their doorsteps.

She said that timely promotion of doctors would be ensured in the province enabling them to perform their duties satisfactory manners.

The Minister said that the Punjab government has allocated eleven billion rupees for providing treatment facilities to T.B and hepatitis patients and curing these diseases.

Opposition parties fail to get AJK people’s attention: SACM

Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the opposition parties have failed to get the attention of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) people.

Talking to newsmen in Sialkot today (Saturday), she said that the PML-N government in AJK did not carry out any development works which it could present before the people.

She said that PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz made national institutions controversial for political mileage by compromising on the blood of Kashmiri people.

GB govt extends closure, work from home period of civil secretariat, other offices in Gilgit, Skardu & Hunza till August

Gilgit Baltistan government has extended the closure and work from home period of civil secretariat and all other offices in Gilgit, Skardu and Hunza till 1st of next month.

Notification in this regard has been issued by Gilgit Baltistan Services Department .

According to the notification, Offices of Secretary Home, General Administration and Health will remain open with minimum staff.

The divisional and district administrations, health and police department in the said three districts shall also continue working as usual with only required staff.

Polling for AJK Legislative Assembly elections to be held tomorrow

Polling for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will be held tomorrow (Sunday).

Our Muzaffarabad correspondent, Badshah Khan reports that the polling process will begin at 0800 hours and continue till 5:00 p.m with no break.

More than three point two million registered voters will exercise their right to vote to elect their representatives for Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly for next term.

AJK Election Commission has finalized all arrangements to hold free, fair, and transparent elections. All out security arrangements have also been made so that voters could cast their vote in a peaceful manner without any fear and pressure.

The Kashmiris living in any city of Pakistan will exercise their vote to choose their candidates on 12 constituencies meant of Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in various parts of Pakistan.

A total of 587 candidates are contesting the elections in 33 constituencies of Azad Kashmir districts and 121 candidates on 12 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir refugees settled in Pakistan.

Over 40 thousand security personals including PAK Army, FC, Rangers & Police will perform duties to ensure peaceful polling.

5118 polling stations have been set up in all three divisions, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, and Mirpur. Out of the total 830 polling stations are very sensitive while 1269 are sensitive.

Following polling, all divisional and district government offices will remain open today and tomorrow (Sunday). The election scheduled for 8 reserved seats will be announced after the general elections.

Meanwhile, Election Commission has directed commissioners Muzaffarabad, Poonch, and Mirpur Divisions to dispatch presiding officers and other election staff to the polling stations concerned in full security.

Similarly, at the end of polling tomorrow, presiding officers along with polling bags would be escorted in full security up to the office of the returning officer concerned so as to ensure fair and transparent elections.

The security staff will be present up to the official declaration of the results at the offices of the district and returning officers.

According to the media code of conduct issued by the Election Commission, entry pass holders would be allowed for coverage.

On the other hand in Punjab, all necessary electoral, administrative and security arranagements have been finalized to ensure holding of free, fair and transparent Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections on nine seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in Provincial Capital Lahore, polling will be held for two constituencies LA-34 Jammu One and LA-41 Kashmir Valley Two.

A total of 9194 registered voters will use their right of vote in these two Lahore constituencies, where twenty five polling stations have been set up.

Strict security measures will be taken and under the finalized security plan to ensure peaceful polling environment and avoid any untoward incident at polling stations.

Corona related SOPs will also be strictly implemented inside and outside all polling stations in the province.

President Alvi visits residence of Mamnoon Hussain, offers condolence

President Dr. Arif Alvi visited the residence of former President Mamnoon Hussain in Karachi today (Friday) and extended condolence to his family on his demise.

He also offered fateha for departed soul.

The president also had visited the last resting place of Ex- President last day and offered fateha.

Meanwhile, President Dr. Arif Alvi also visited the residence of Akbar liaquat Ali Khan, the son of first prime minister of the country Liaquat Ali Khan in Karachi today and inquired after his health.

The president also held meeting with family members of Akbar liaquat Ali Khan

Rs 22 bln earmarked for roads & bridges in merged districts of KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is spending twenty-two billion rupees on construction of roads and bridges in merged districts of the province.

According to Communication and Construction department, work on sixty-five projects for establishment of eight hundred and eighty-kilometer-long roads is in progress in tribal districts.

These projects will be completed by June next year which will open new avenues of development and prosperity in these areas.
