Cabinet committee reviews preparedness for possible floods

Punjab Minister for Tourism, Taimoor Khan Bhatti and Chief Secretary Jawwad Rafiq Malik chaired a meeting of Cabinet Committee for Disaster Management in Lahore.

During meeting, arrangements to tackle monsoon related situation and expected flood were reviewed. The meeting decided on public swimming in rivers, canals and nullahs, owning to deaths there recently.

Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister said that flood situation can be tackled successfully with better planning.

Balochistan: Two died in road accident in Loralai

In Balochistan, two persons have been died and two others injured in a head-on collision between a wagon and bus at Sherjan Kadi in Loralai district

The bus was bound from Lahore to Quetta. The injured have been shifted to Loralai Teaching Hospital for treatment.

PDMA issues flood alert in naullahs of Peshawar, Mardan

Provincial Disaster Management Authority issued flood alert in Kalpani Nullah Mardan and Budani Naullah Peshawar due to heavy rains.

It said that heavy rains downpour may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Deputy Commissioners of all districts and all departments concerned have been advised to remain alert and take all precautionary measures in order to avoid human loss and damages of property.
