Counting begins in Sindh LG elections as polling concludes

Counting of votes is in progress after polling for the second and final phase of local government elections in Sindh concluded.

The elections are being held in sixteen districts, including seven districts of Karachi division and nine districts of Hyderabad division.

The polling started at eight this morning and continued till five in the evening without any break.

Strict security arrangements were made to ensure law and order during the polling.

Security forces kill two facilitators of Peshawar terror attack

Two facilitators of the terrorist attack on Sarband Police Station were killed in an Intelligence Based Operation in Peshawar last night.

According to a statement issued in Peshawar, the operation was jointly launched by Counter Terrorism Department and District Police in the outskirts of Peshawar.

The dead terrorists were identified as Gul Hai and Hazrat Omar alias Mansoor who were associated with banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and wanted to police in cases of heinous crimes.

Govt actively working to make Pakistan true Islamic, welfare state: Fazl

Chairman Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman says the coalition government is actively working to make the country a true Islamic and welfare state.

Addressing the Workers Convention in Peshawar on Sunday, he stressed the need unity to foil the nefarious designs of foreign elements who want to destabilize Pakistan.

Chairman JUI (F) stressed the need for supremacy of Islamic values in the country.

He hoped that the current government would soon steer the country out of the crises.

On this occasion, PTI leader from Peshawar Nasir Khan Musazai announced joining JUI (F).

PM renews pledge to eradicate terrorism with nation’s support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the condemnable conspiracies of terrorists to weaken morale of the nation will not succeed.

In a statement, he said the nation along with law enforcement agencies is determined to root out the evil of terrorism.

Prime Minister strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Police Station Sarband in Peshawar and expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of a Deputy Superintendent of police and two other personnel in the incident.

He said the sacrifices of police and law enforcement agencies are unforgettable.

In GB, 3-day long national anti-polio campaign begins from tomorrow

In Gilgit Baltistan, the three day long national campaign against Polio will begin from Monday.

The opening ceremony of the polio campaign was held at the Directorate of Extension Program for Immunization in Gilgit.

Coordinator to Chief Minister GB Sabir Hussain kicked off the drive giving drops to a child under five years age.

During the campaign 252,000 children under five years of age will be given polio vaccination drops.

The health department has established 1542 mobile teams, 71 transit points, and 389 fixed sites and 564 supervisory staff have been posted.

District Polio Control Rooms have also been implemented in the Deputy Commissioner Offices of all districts to monitor the polio campaign. A provincial control room has also been established in the provincial office of EPI.

Anti-polio drive to begin in Balochistan tomorrow

Seven day anti–polio drive will begin in Balochistan on Monday.

Our Quetta correspondent reports that during the drive more than 2.5 million children up to five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops.

For this purpose more than eleven thousand polio teams have been constituted which would administer drops to the children during door to door drive.

Reko Diq project to play major role in development of Balochistan: CM Bizenjo

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has said that Government and opposition parties are on one page regarding Reko Diq project.

He said this in a ceremony at Chief Minister Secretariat in Quetta on Sunday.

The Chief Executive Officer of Barrick Gold Corporation Mark Bristow and opposition leader Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate and Provincial Ministers also attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister added that Reko Diq project will play an important role in the development of the province. He said we took all stakeholders into confidence regarding the success of Reko Diq project.
