PSX witnesses bullish trend today

The Pakistan Stock Exchange was bullish today.

The KSE-100 Index closed today at 64,578.52 points as compared to 63,703.45 points on the last working day with a positive change of 875.07 points.

The total turnover was 424,043,562 as compared to 461,390,885 on the last working day with K-Electric Ltd. having the highest turnover of 54,958,235.

A total of 364 companies’ transacted shares in the Stock Market today, out of which 188 recorded gains and 161 sustained losses whereas the share price of 15 companies remained unchanged.

Pakistan Services Ltd. recorded the maximum increase in its share price, which was 52.18 rupees while Bata Pakistan Ltd. recorded the maximum decrease that was 33.00 rupees.

PSL9: Quetta Gladiators beat Karachi Kings by 5 wickets

In Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators have defeated Karachi Kings by 1 wicket at Karachi tonight.

Batting first, Karachi Kings set a victory target of 166 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allotted twenty overs.

In reply, Quetta Gladiators achieved target in 20 overs for loss of 5 wickets.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and elected to field first.

HEC, DAAD sign MoU for Afghan refugees under EFFAL initiative

Higher Education Commission (HEC) has signed an MoU with German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for HEC scholarship programme “Empower Future Female Afghan Leaders – EFFAL Pakistan track initiative.”

It includes 150 scholarships for Afghan refugees for two-year Master’s studies in HEC-recognized universities in Pakistan.

The signing ceremony was graced by German Ambassador Alfred Grannas and HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed.

Relief, rescue operations in rain-hit areas of Gwadar continue

In Balochistan, relief and rescue operations in rain-hit areas of Gwadar are continuing.

According to details, fifty to sixty percent dewatering process has been completed so far in the affected areas.

More than two hundred and fifty houses have been reportedly damaged till now while over 20 people have been injured due to flood and other rain related incidents. People of these damaged houses have been shifted to rescue centers.

Similarly, over two hundred thousand water purifications tabs have been distributed in Gwadar and Turbat by the Health Department Balochistan.

Meanwhile, another spell of rain is expected in southern region of Balochistan from tonight, which may hamper the rescue efforts.

The National Disaster Management Authority is closely monitoring ground situation and ensuring smooth coordination of rescue efforts.

Pakistan Army troops have already been mobilized for rescue and relief operations since torrential rains lashed Gwadar, Surbandar and Jiwani.

ision along with Commissioner Makran Division and Deputy Commissioner Gwadar also paid a detailed visit to Gwadar City and Surbandar.

He reviewed relief activities being carried out by the Army contingents in collaboration with the civilian administration.

At present, the army is engaged in flood relief operations in and around Gwadar, Jiwani and Surbandar.

The local people stranded in Rohbar, Printok and Khargoshki villages have been evacuated to safer places.

Two medical camps have been set up in Gwadar, two in Jiwani, one in Accra and one in Pushkan.

Apart from this, two emergency response units have also been established in Gwadar.

The Army Engineers Plant has been deployed for breaking embankments in Jiwani and opening of roads and rehabilitation in Gwadar.

Suction pumps of Pakistan Army have also been installed for draining of flood water, while cooked food and dry ration is also being distributed among displaced people. Tents and mats are also being provided to the displaced population.

Grant approved for Technology Parks in model colleges across country

Ministry of Federal Education, in collaboration with the Pakistan Software Technology Board has approved a grant to establish five state-of-the-art Technology Parks in model colleges across the country.

The decision to establish these Technology Parks comes as part of the government’s broader vision to promote technological advancement and equip students with practical skills essential for the 21st-century workforce.

These Technology Parks, to be set up within the premises of model colleges, will serve as dynamic hubs for technology enthusiasts, providing them with a conducive environment to collaborate, innovate, and turn their ideas into reality.

Key features of these parks include rent-free space, free internet access, and electricity, making them accessible to students and aspiring entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.
