PPP believes in reconciliation: Bilawal Zardari

Chairman Pakistan People Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that his party believes in reconciliation.

Addressing a news conference in Quetta he said problems of people of Balochistan will be solved through collective efforts.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti will visit Gwadar soon to review the relief activities in the rain-affected areas.

He said that a parliamentary committee will be formed to solve issue of missing persons.

Shehbaz invites opposition for ‘Charter of Reconciliation’

Prime Minister-elect Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has invited the opposition for a Charter of Reconciliation to effectively address prevailing challenges and the take the country towards progress and prosperity.

In his maiden speech in the National Assembly today, he categorically stated that they have no personal egos and the other side also needs to follow the suit for the sake of Pakistan. He mentioned that they had earlier proposed Charter of Economy for the country’s benefit.

Shehbaz Sharif said people have given a split mandate in the general elections; and those having reservations about election results need to approach the appropriate forums.

He emphasized the destiny of the country can be changed and it can be taken to the path of self-reliance through collective decisions.

Highlighting his government’s priorities, the Prime Minister-elect announced plans and reforms to address challenges in different sectors.

Referring to the economic challenges, the Prime Minister pointed out that the country is i
ndebted to 80,000 billion rupees of internal and external loans, and this situation warrants deep surgery.

The Prime Minister-elect said a revenue of twelve thousand and three hundred billion rupees is expected during the current fiscal year. He said after distribution of resources to the provinces under the National Finance Commission Award, the federal government will be left with seven thousand three hundred billion rupees. He said eight thousand billion rupees are required for payment of interest. Shehbaz Sharif directed the Federal Board of Revenue to ensure pending tax refunds in the next ten days. He said his government will put in the best possible efforts to enhance revenue that would lead to reduction in inflation and create employment opportunities.

Shehbaz Sharif said the outdated laws will be done away with to create conducive environment for business and investment in the country. He said visa free entry will be given to the entrepreneurs from friendly countries. He directed the banks to also
give loans to the youth for promotion of small and medium enterprises. He said a network of export zones will be spread across the country with the cooperation of provincial governments by ensuring one window facility.

The Prime Minister said trade corridors will be opened. He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will be taken forward with the cooperation of China, which is a time-tested and reliable friend of Pakistan.

Expressing concern over the high electricity tariff, Shehbaz Sharif said the circular debt in power sector has climbed to two thousand and three hundred billion rupees. He said action will be taken against power pilferage.

The Prime Minister-elect said he himself will monitor the action against power theft and tax evasion. He directed the energy companies to lay down a network of renewable energy projects to provide affordable electricity to consumers.

Unveiling his government’s priorities in agriculture sector, the Prime Minister-elect expressed commitment to provide direct subsidy to fa
rmers on fertilizers. He said the government will launch a Solar Tube-well programme and try to provide high quality imported seeds to farmers free of cost for first time. He said livestock farming will be promoted under Special Investment Facilitation Council.

Shehbaz Sharif said establishing a network of efficient public transport system in collaboration with the provincial governments will be another priority of his government. He said state of the art new hospitals will be established at the federal level and in the provinces to provide better health facilities to people.

Underlining the need for human development for overall progress of the country, the Prime Minister-elect said the youth will be offered multiple opportunities to excel. He said as many as five hundred thousand youth will be imparted with special training in Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and other information technology-related fields. He said the federal government will provide the students securing distinctive positions wi
th scholarships to study abroad. Shehbaz Sharif held out assurance to protect rights of minorities as enshrined in the Constitution. He said women constitute fifty percent of the population, and they deserve equal opportunities and rights. He said harassment of women at workplaces is not acceptable.

The Prime Minister-elect expressed his firm resolve to wipe out terrorism from the country through full implementation of the National Action Plan.

He said the issue of missing persons of Balochistan will be resolved with the consultation of the notables of the province. He said the elements involved in May 9 incidents will have to face the law. However, those who have not committed any crime will not have to face any embarrassment.

Explaining his government’s foreign policy outlook, the Prime Minister-elect said adding friends and reducing opponents will be cornerstone of the foreign policy. Describing Pakistan’s relations with the United States as long-standing, he said the government will make efforts to rep
air and rebuild relations with Washington. He said relations with the neighboring countries will be taken forward on the basis of principles of equality.

The Prime Minister was appreciative of the financial support extended by Saudi Arabia during his last tenure in government. He acknowledged that Saudi Arabia has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times. Likewise, the United Arab Emirates and Turkiye have also been supportive of Pakistan in challenging times.

Condemning the Israeli aggression against the innocent Palestinians and Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir, the Prime Minister-elect urged the international community to break its silence over the barbarism against the humanity.

World Wildlife Day is being observed across the world, including Pakistan, today.

The day is observed to appreciate the many beautiful and diverse species of wild fauna and flora and to increase awareness of the benefits that people derive from their survival.

This year, the theme of World Wildlife Day is “Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation”.

Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif elected as Prime Minister

Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Announcing the results, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Shehbaz Sharif, the joint candidate of PML-N and allied parties, secured two hundred and one votes. Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate Omar Ayub Khan bagged ninety-two votes.

It is the second time that Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as the Prime Minister of the country.

Chief of Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Akhtar Mengal who was present in the house abstained from voting.

Shehbaz Sharif later went to the desks of the allied parties to express his gratitude to them.

Sunni Ittehad Council candidate Omar Ayub Khan thanked his party lawmakers for supporting him.

The House has been adjourned to meet again on Monday at 11:00 am.

NA session underway to elect Prime Minister

National Assembly resumed its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad today with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.

The House will elect the next Prime Minister of the country. Two candidates are in the field for the coveted slot. These include the joint candidate of PML-N and allied parties Shehbaz Sharif and Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate Omar Ayub Khan.

The election will be held through division of the house.

At the outset, newly elected member Jam Kamal Khan took oath today.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq administered him the oath.

In the National Assembly, polling is underway for the election of the Prime Minister.

The election is taking place through division of the House. Lobby-A has been allocated to the joint candidate of PML-N and allied parties Shehbaz Sharif whilst the Lobby-B to Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate Omar Ayub Khan.

The members are going towards their respective lobbies to record their votes.

Earlier, bells were rung for five minutes to enable the members to be present
in the Assembly Hall. Afterwards, entrance and exits of lobbies were closed till the conclusion of the voting process.

Chinese President, Premier felicitate Shehbaz on his election as PM

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang have congratulated Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as Prime Minister of Pakistan.

President Xi Jinping in his message expressed the confidence that under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif Pakistan would be able to make new and greater achievements in the cause of national development and progress.

He stressed that China and Pakistan would continue their traditional friendship and cooperation in various fields.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang has also sent a congratulatory message to the newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Marriyum Aurangzeb vows to implement vision presented by PM-elect

PML -N Leader Marriyum Aurangzeb says the vision and manifesto presented by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the Parliament regarding the progress and development of country will be materialized in letter and spirit.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, she said that newly elected Prime Minister has tremendous credentials of governance.

She said that Shehbaz Sharif has vast experience of public serving as his performance was matchless during his tenure of Chief Minister Ship in Punjab.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said he put concrete endeavors during sixteen months to save country from insolvency.

She vowed to resume the journey of progress of country from 2018 despite facing the difficult circumstances.

She criticized the opposition over their undemocratic attitude during the session of Parliament. She negated the view of opposition of rigging in the general elections.

Responding to a question, she said opposition wants to create anarchy and chaos in country by repeating the ominous episode of 9th M
ay but our mission is to curb the rate of inflation and steer the country out from the crisis.

Answering another question, she expressed resolve to introduce best model of governance in the country with transparency as an essential hallmark of the present government.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Federal and Punjab cabinet both will be announced soon.

Five-day anti-polio campaign underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The second phase of five-day anti-polio campaign is underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During this phase, more than seven point one million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio vaccine drops.

The children will also be administered a supplementary dose of ‘Vitamin-A’ during the drive.

Meanwhile, anti-polio campaign has been postponed in Malakand and Hazara divisions for two days due to heavy rains.

According to Emergency Operations Center, the polio drive in these divisions will commence from Tuesday.
