International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness is being observed today.

The day seeks to promote better awareness and understanding of disarmament issues among the public, especially young people.

It also plays a role in deepening the global public’s understanding about how disarmament efforts contribute to enhancing peace and security, preventing and ending armed conflicts, and curbing human suffering caused by weapons.

Senate by-polls on vacant seats to be held on March 14

By-elections on the six vacant seats of the Senate will be held on March 14.

These seats were vacated by Syed Yousuf Raza Gillan, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Prince Ahmed Umer Ahmedzai, and Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti.

First shipment of agricultural equipment arrives in Pakistan from China

The first big shipment of agricultural equipment under the Green Pakistan initiative programme has reached Pakistan from China via Khunjerab Pass.

The Green Pakistan Initiative will bring innovation in country’s irrigation system.

The cargo includes twenty tractors, Drip Irrigation System, Hose Reel-based Irrigation System and Satellite and Drone Intelligent Control Platform.

Smart Agriculture Management platform and Smart Agriculture Internet of Things are also included in the cargo. The technology would also help improve industry of Pakistan.

No compromise to be made on law, order situation: KP CM

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur says no compromise will be made on law and order situation in the province.

Talking to media in Charsadda, he said all the financial resources required by the police will be provided on a priority basis in this regard.

He said reducing poverty, providing employment to the people and welfare of the weaker sections are the key priorities of the provincial government.

CM Punjab orders timely completion of road projects

On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, “Sarkein Bahaal-Punjab Khushaal” project has been initiated in the province.

In this regard, a meeting in Lahore chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz approved the installation of electric weighing machines on roads for the Excel Load Management System.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered the completion of road projects and sought a report on road bridges across Punjab.

She emphasized the urgency of conducting surveys for the construction and rehabilitation of road bridges.

The Chief Minister further instructed the construction of expressways on five main connecting roads, with a target to complete over 153 road projects in Punjab within six months.

Rescue operation of Pakistan Army underway to restore traffic in GB

Rescue operation of Pakistan Army is continuing to restore traffic at different roads of Gilgit-Baltistan, which were blocked due to torrential rains and land-sliding.

According to the details, the contingents of Frontier Works Organization safely rescued a commercial convoy coming from China to Sust Port of Pakistan.

The troops also cleared the landslide-affected Karakoram Highway and Jaglot-Skardu Road.

They also provided cooked food and medical facilities to the stranded travellers including foreigners.

Punjab Govt plans to build over 3000 houses for low-income people

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that providing shelter to poor strata of society is PML-N’s manifesto and we will fulfill our promise.

Presiding over a meeting regarding ‘Apni Chaat Apna Ghar’ project in Lahore today, the Chief Minister sought a comprehensive plan to implement the announcement of constructing one hundred thousand houses.

It was decided in the meeting that over three thousand houses will be built for low-income people in every district of Punjab.

She directed officials to build model houses within six weeks and keep down payment and monthly installments lower.

The Chief Minister directed officials to prioritize construction standards and sustainability in these houses.

US terms Maryam’s election as first woman CM Punjab a ‘milestone’

The United States has welcomed Maryam Nawaz’s election, the first woman Chief Minister, as a milestone in Pakistani politics.

Speaking at a news briefing in Washington, State Department Spokesperson Mathew Miller said the US looks forward to cooperate with Pakistan broadly on integrating women fully into the country’s political life, in the economy and other decision-making spaces.
