CM Punjab, Canadian envoy discuss economic cooperation

The Canadian High Commissioner in Pakistan, Leslie Scanlon, met with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore today.

During the meeting, they explored avenues to enhance mutual economic ties between Canada and Punjab.

They also discussed the possibility of increasing scholarships for Punjab students to study at Canadian higher education institutions.

The Punjab Chief Minister expressed her readiness to welcome the Canadian Sikh community to visit their sacred places in the province.

Federal cabinet to take oath today

The federal cabinet will take oath today.

The oath taking ceremony will be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

President Asif Ali Zardari will administer the oath to the cabinet members.

Federal cabinet sworn in at President House

A nineteen member federal cabinet took oath at the President House in Islamabad today.

Eighteen federal ministers, including Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazir Tarara, Engineer Amir Muqam, Ataullah Tarar, Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Rana Tanvir Hussain, Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Mohsin Naqvi, Jam Kamal, Awais Leghari, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Cheema, Abdul Aleem Khan, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Musadik Malik took oath.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja took oath as the Minister of State.

Kyrgyz Honorary Consul’s office opens in Lahore

Government of Kyrgyzstan has established its Honorary Consul in Lahore to cater to the need of traders from both countries.

Kyrgyzstan Ambassador Ulanbek Totuiaev inaugurated the office of Consul.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it signifies a pivotal step towards bolstering bilateral trade between the two countries.

The envoy said that the Consul office will serve as a diplomatic liaison, promoting ties and cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan.

He said it will provide essential consular services including visa facilitation, legal assistance, and support for exchange of trade and educational delegation.

BISP utilizing social media platforms to facilitate beneficiaries

The Benazir Income Support Programme is utilizing different social media platforms in efforts to facilitate existing and intending beneficiaries and provide authentic information about various pro-poor schemes.

According to APP, the BISP has launched its Whatsapp channel for disseminating public awareness about its initiatives which has now over 7,000 followers.

The BISP has urged the existing and intending beneficiaries to follow the official Whatsapp channel of BISP to get all the valid information about the programmes.

Pak Army rescues stranded local skiing player Mudassir Hussain

Pakistan Army successfully rescued local skiing player Mudassir Hussain, who was stranded at Minimarg village in Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan due to injury.

According to the details, the 26 years old Mudassir Hussain was skiing near Barzil Pass when he slipped and got fracture in his leg.

The brave soldiers of Pakistan Army timely rescued Mudassir Hussain and took him to the Army Field Hospital at Minimarg where he underwent a successful surgery.

Mudassir Hussain’s father highly appreciated Pak Army’s timely help and successful rescue operation.

Students of District Bajaur visit Army Museum Lahore

A delegation comprising students and faculty members of different colleges of Bajaur organized a study tour to Army Museum Lahore.

At its arrival at the museum, the delegation was accorded warm welcome and given a detailed briefing about the museum.

The students, while taking keen interest in different eras of the museum, lauded the professional expertise and glory of Pakistan Army.

They also reposed confidence on the Armed Forces of Pakistan for defence of the motherland.
