Jamal Shah directs for speedy completion of Rawat Fort

Caretaker Minister for National Heritage and Culture Jamal Shah has issued directives to Department of Archaeology for speedy completion of renovation and conservation work of Rawat Fort near Rawalpindi.

During his visit to Rawat Fort, he said the main objective of the project is to conserve our cultural heritage through scientific and traditional techniques.

‘Govt restructuring FBR to improve its governance’

Restructuring of Federal Board of Revenue is on the agenda of the Government to improve its governance, efficiency and effectiveness.

According to a press release issued by the Finance Division, certain proposals have been prepared in line with international best practices to rationalize and streamline the functions of the FBR, strengthen the FBR policy board, and overall governance, integrity and performance of the revenue agency based on a creative oversight structure that would enhance its accountability to the state and clients.

The creation of specialized administrative structures will be accompanied by better delegation and accountability of administration. An institutional mechanism is being considered to establish a Tax Policy group with the right expertise and analytical capability to facilitate rationalization of tax regime emphasizing fairness and equity in tax regime.

These proposals have been prepared by the government after months of deliberation and consultation with experts, academics, and
senior leadership of FBR and its members. However, these proposals do not include any item relating to the downsizing of workforce or any outside interference in the administrative matters of Customs or Inland Revenue service by any other agency and ministry.

Govt’s effective actions against power pilferage producing results

The government’s effective actions against power pilferage are producing results.

According to the statistics, 2.58 billion rupees have been collected from across the country and 107 people arrested.

Zero point five zero billion rupees were collected from Peshawar and one person was arrested while 0.02 billion rupees were collected from the newly merged districts.

A total of 41 people were arrested from Hyderabad and Sukkur and 0.5 billion rupees recovered.

Zero point one two billion rupees were recovered from Quetta and 3 persons were arrested while 0.05 billion rupees were recovered from Gwadar.

Aneeq Ahmed leaves for KSA to finalize Hajj 2024 arrangements

Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed has left for Saudi Arabia to finalize Hajj 2024 arrangements.

Secretary and Joint Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs are accompanying the Minister during his visit to KSA.

Aneeq Ahmed is expected to participate in the World Hajj Conference which is scheduled to be held in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.

PDMA forecasts season’s first snowfall in Murree

In anticipation of the season’s first snowfall, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a forecast for Murree and surrounding areas, with the snowfall expected to begin on Tuesday.

A spokesperson from PDMA told that the authorities had been diligently working to prevent any untoward incident during snowfall and influx of large number of tourists.

He said that three facilitation centers for tourists were set up in last week, and this number has now been increased to thirteen.

Meanwhile, travelers, accompanied by families primarily arriving from various districts of Central Punjab and northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were observed in significant numbers in the valleys of Kalam, Madyan, Bahrain, and Malam Jabba in Upper Swat.

Death anniversary of Aitzaz Hasan observed

The tenth death anniversary of Aitzaz Hasan, who laid his life to stop the attempt of a suicide bomber to enter his school in Hangu, was observed today.

He became a national hero after he saved hundreds of lives on this day in 2014, thwarting the terrorist attack.

Aitzaz Hasan had grabbed the suicide bomber at the main gate to prevent him from entering the school.

Aitzaz Hasan was later awarded with Sitara-e-Shujaat for his bravery.

PML-N to start election campaign from next week: Marriyum Aurangzeb

PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb says her party will start election campaign from next week and present his economic agenda before people.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore today, she said PML-N will not allow anyone to escape from elections.

She said sensible people of the country will select people of 28th May instead of 9th May.

Govt constitutes committee to identify mastermind, planners of May 9, 2023 incidents

The government has constituted a committee on May 9, 2023 incidents.

The cabinet division has issued a notification regarding the formation of the committee.

The caretaker Minister for Law and Justice will be its convener. Other members of the committee include the Minister for Interior, Minister for Information and Minister for Human Rights.

As per its terms of reference, the committee will examine the events leading up to the incidents of 9th May with a view to ascertain the identity and role of mastermind, planners, facilitators and executors.

The committee will analyze the causes and determine responsibility for these events.

The committee will suggest preventive measures to ensure that such a breach of national security is not repeated and recommend measures to strengthen the existing legal regime to deter such recurrences.

The committee shall submit its report to the Cabinet within fourteen days.
