Jirga held b/w local tribal elders, FC Balochistan North in Balochistan

A jirga was held between local tribal elders and FC Balochistan North in Hanna Orak area of Balochistan.

It discussed the overall security situation of the area, various post-flood rehabilitation projects and development projects.

The participants described the security situation in the area as satisfactory and appreciated the role of Pakistan Army and FC in maintaining peace.

The tribal elders said that with the efforts of Pakistan Army, FC and civil administration, work on many development projects is going on in the area. These projects include the construction of Hana Orak and Wali Tangi Dam road and clean water supply as well as various health and education projects. They noted that their completion will bring ease in the life of the local people.

Talking to the Jirga, the Inspector General Frontier Corps North said that apart from ensuring law and order situation, Pakistan Army and FC will continue their cooperation with the local people in every sphere of life.

The participants of the jirga said
that the local people are standing side by side with the security forces for maintenance of peace and order.

Govt continuing crackdown against smuggling

The government is continuing crackdown against smuggling which is yielding positive results.

According to the statistics, 9249.41 metric tons of sugar, 202 metric tons of flour, 2661.01 metric tons of fertilizer, 205,176 cigarette stocks, 19,034 bags of clothes and 2.37 million liters of Iranian oil have been recovered since the launch of crackdown in September of last year.

OIC, UMT Lahore agree to enhance educational cooperation

The organization of Islamic Cooperation and a Lahore based private university have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Jeddah to enhance educational cooperation among the OIC member states.

Under the MoU, the university will offer 114 scholarships to students from the OIC countries.

The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to OIC Syed M Fawad Sher.

Symbol changes can lead to election delays in some constituencies: ECP

The Election Commission of Pakistan says it is contemplating the option of delaying general elections in particular constituencies, if the practice of altering election symbols continues in those areas.

ECP in a statement said changes are being made through various channels.

The statement said it is crucial to remember that the Election Commission has already directed the printing of ballot papers to three printing corporations, and the printing process has commenced.

To address the evolving situation, the election commission is holding meetings with the primary objective of managing the circumstances and ensuring strict adherence to instructions against changing election symbols.

Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi says fake news is the biggest threat to democracy and journalism.

In a post on his X handle, he said fake news tactics are on the rise as we get closer to elections.

The Minister said today, a fake directive was created and circulated in the name of Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and now the Chief Election Commissioner is being targeted.

“Reko Diq” game-changer project for Balochistan: Mark Bristow

With an estimated investment of 10 billion dollars over the next eight to nine years, the Reko Diq gold and copper project is poised to transform the regional economy.

This was stated by Barrick Gold Corporation’s President and Chief Executive, Mark Bristow in an interview with a private news channel.

Bristow highlighted the creation of 200 jobs already and plans to employ 1,000 people by the end of the year, eventually reaching 10,000 during the peak of mining.

He stressed the importance of ongoing engagement with local communities and their role in guiding investors.

Barrick Gold Corporation’s President said the commitment is to continue investing in communities and preparing them to directly participate in and benefit from the project.
