Century Paper & Board Mills Reports Stable Share Rate

Karachi, Century Paper & Board Mills, identified by CEPB, maintained a steady share rate of Rs. 30.50, slightly lower than its daily weighted average of Rs. 30.76. The company, with a paid-up capital of Rs. 4,017.13 million, announced a 10%B distribution for the fiscal year ending June 2023. It achieved a high rate of Rs. 57.39 and a turnover of 118,457,000 shares.

Pakistan reiterates resolve to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity at all costs

The National Security Committee has reiterated the unflinching resolve that sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan are absolutely inviolable and sacrosanct and any attempt by anyone to breach it on any pretext will be responded with full might of the state.

During today’s meeting of the NSC that was held in Islamabad today with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar in the chair, the forum reaffirmed that the security and safety of the people of Pakistan is of paramount importance and no stone will be left unturned to ensure it.

The meeting undertook a wholesome review of the situation and lauded the professional, calibrated and proportionate response by the Armed Forces of Pakistan against unprovoked and unlawful violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

During the meeting, participants were briefed about political and diplomatic developments bearing upon the prevailing situation between Pakistan and Iran and its impact on the overall security milieu in the region.

Forum also took stock of t
he ‘Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar’, which was successfully executed against Pakistani originated Baloch terrorists residing on the ungoverned spaces inside Iran.

An update on the situation along the borders and necessary full preparations done to comprehensively respond to any further violation of national sovereignty was also deliberated about.

The forum expressed that Iran, being a neighbourly and brotherly Muslim country, existing multiple communication channels between the two countries should be mutually utilized to address each other’s security concerns in the larger interest of regional peace and stability.

The meeting impressed upon Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in accordance with the UN charter and international norms.

The Committee also reiterated the resolve to deal with the menace of terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, with an iron hand.

The forum also highlighted that Pakistan has suffered far more than any other country due to thi
s scourge of terrorism.

The meeting concluded that in line with the universal principles governing the conduct of good neighbourly relations, the two countries would mutually be able to overcome minor irritants through dialogue and diplomacy and pave the way to further deepen their historic relations.

The meeting was attended by the Caretaker Ministers for Defence, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Information, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of the Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Air Staff as well as heads of intelligence agencies.

Pakistan seeks friendly ties with all countries: Caretaker PM

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs briefed the Caretaker Federal Cabinet about the situation arising from the Iranian attack on Pakistan on 16 January, 2024.

In a meeting of the Federal Cabinet held under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the details of the attack, as well as Pakistan’s response, were shared.

The Cabinet lauded the high professionalism with which the Pakistan Armed Forces responded to the breach of the Pakistan’s sovereignty and how the entire government machinery worked in unison in this regard.

Addressing the federal cabinet, the Prime Minister affirmed that Pakistan is a law abiding and peace loving country and it seeks friendly and cooperative relations with all countries, particularly its neighbors.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly countries that have historically enjoyed fraternal and cooperative relations marked by respect and affection.

He said that it is in the interest of both countries to take steps to restore the r
elationship to what it was prior to January 16.

The Prime Minister said that, in this regard, Pakistan would welcome and reciprocate all positive measures from the Iranian side.

Elections 2024: ECP issues code of conduct for security personnel

The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued code of conduct related to the deployment of security personnel to ensure fool proof security during the upcoming general elections.

According to the code of conduct, security personnel will be deployed outside all polling stations for maintenance of law and order.

The security will be provided to printing presses during printing of ballot papers and its transportation from Printing Presses to the offices of the Returning Officers.

Security will also be provided to Presiding Officers during transportation of Polling Bags from the offices of Returning Officers to the Polling Stations.

The Election Commission said that security personnel will remain impartial and neutral throughout the election process in general and during the voting process in particular and shall not act in favor or against any political party.

The security personnel will ensure that peaceful, congenial, safe and conducive environment is provided to the voters outside the polling stations
so that voters are neither intimidated nor prevented from voting in any manner whatsoever.

They will facilitate voters and ensure that voters are properly queued.

Moreover, security personnel will follow the directions of the Presiding Officer to perform their duties and will provide security to the premises of the office of the Returning Officer till the completion of consolidation of results and ensure safe deposit of polling bags and other material to the strong room of the Commission.

The security personnel will not be allowed to ask the voters to prove their identity as it is the duty of polling officer.

Similarly, they will also not disallow any eligible voter to enter into the polling station as entering a polling station to cast vote is an inviolable right of the voter.
