Info Minister condemns firing incident at Royal News office

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has strongly condemned firing incident on Royal News office in Punjab.

In a statement, the information minister said firing on Royal News office is an attack on freedom of press.

Marriyum Aurangzeb urged the Punjab government to ensure the security of media houses.

Pakistan concerned over BJP leadership’s involvement in Gujarat riots

Pakistan has expressed grave concern over confirmation of BJP leadership’s direct involvement in anti-Muslim violence during the horrific Gujarat riots of 2002 that led to killing of over two thousand Muslims.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch urged India to immediately constitute an independent commission of inquiry to bring the culprits of the horrific Godhra incident as well as the Gujarat riots, to justice.

She said the recent statement by the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shankersinh Vaghela, has confirmed Pakistan’s long-standing assertion that the BJP-led government was directly responsible for fomenting violence and massacre of Muslims.

The spokesperson said Pakistan also stresses upon the international community, particularly human rights activists and defenders to take serious note of the aggravating situation of Islamophobia in India.

COAS lauds welfare services offered by Fauji Foundation

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday inaugurated various healthcare projects of Fauji Foundation in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

According to Director General ISPR, the Army Chief was briefed regarding newly constructed projects including Artificial Limb Centre, which is a state-of-the-art facility offering modern solutions in its field and Foundation University Nursing College, which has the capacity to accommodate 396 students.

General Bajwa also visited newly Constructed New East Ridge hospital which is a private patient care facility having 40 clinics and 146 beds , functioning under the umbrella of Fauji Foundation. Over 1.5 million patients are treated every year at Fauji Foundation medical facilities across the country.

The Army Chief expressed his satisfaction over Fauji foundation’s role and contribution as it is playing a vital role in providing both welfare in terms of job opportunities and free healthcare facilities to veterans, their families and also caters for a large number of civilian/private patients across the country.

FM condemns murder of two PPP leaders in Bajaur

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has vehemently condemned the brutal murder of two PPP leaders in Bajaur and called for arrest of the culprits.

In a statement, he said Pakistan People’s Party will not remain silent on the murder of PPP leaders Malik Bakhrawan and Tariq Khan.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the whole party along with its workers are saddened by the incident.

Somalia: Over 100 Al-Shabab militants killed in operation

In Somalia, National Army has killed over hundred al-Shabab militants at border of Middle Shabelle and Hiran regions.

In a statement, the Deputy Minister for Information, Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala said during military operation ten ring leaders were also killed.

North Korea intends world’s most powerful nuclear force: Kim Jong

North Korea intends to have world’s most powerful nuclear force.

The ambition was expressed by leader of North Kim Jong Un during inspection of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles recently tested.

According to the state media, Kim Jong Un pledged to counter U.S. nuclear threats.

He said North Korea’s “ultimate goal is to possess the world’s most powerful strategic force, the absolute force unprecedented in the century.

Malaysia PM Anwar eyes targeted subsidies for low-income groups

In Malaysia, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced to abolish subsidies to divert resources towards low income groups in the country.

Talking to media persons in Kualalumpur, he said government agencies to review the implications of narrowing the subsidies, in two weeks.

Malaysia offers subsidies to all citizens, with fuel and cooking oil accounting for the biggest expense.

It also subsidises electricity, sugar and flour.
